The Ford F-150 is a reliable work truck, everyone knows that. But is the Ford F-150 something that you think of when considering a performance-driven vehicle? It should be. The updated Ford F-150 SCT Raptor is a trim level of the popular pickup that's been impressing off-road fans, truck enthusiasts and general speed demons since it debuted in the automaker's lineup, and now the latest iteration is set to take things to the next level.
The next-generation version of the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor features a new high-strength steel frame and lightweight aluminum body, resulting in a vehicle that's lighter on its wheels and more agile overall.
Beyond its exterior, the updated SVT Raptor packs a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 which Ford says will outperform the current 6.2-liter V8 found under the hood of the SVT Raptor. Ford hasn't released specifics as far as numbers go, but we expect that the new SVT Raptor will live up to Ford's hype.
Of course, performance isn't purely tied to engine specs. The updated Ford F-150 SVT Raptor also features some new technologies that will allow it to go further off the beaten path. Specifically, a new Terrain Management System will allow the driver to select different settings that regulate performance depending on the driving conditions.
Now for the bad news: the updated Raptor won't be on sale until 2016. That being said, if you're in the market for a pickup truck now, there are plenty of Ford F-150 models available here at Byerly Ford in Louisville, KY.
